PORRIDGE RADIO 7 SECONDS

Making the most of 2020 despite a number of COVID-19-related setbacks early on, Porridge Radio have shared the first follow up tune to their Secretly Canadian debut and Mercury-nominated breakthrough LP Every Bad. Taking a slightly lighter approach, '7 Seconds' shines with pop potential without losing any of the guitar-driven grit they've become known for. Elevated by bright synthesizers and reverb-drenched backing vocals principle songwriter Dana Margolin's vocal melodies feel more accomplished then ever as her heartfelt lyrics hit hard. Shedding light on the making of the track Dana explains: “7 Seconds started out sounding really different to how it sounds now. A few years ago I wrote a really slow, long and drawn out song about the end of something that was never right. I was sitting with Sam early last year and I played it to him and asked him if he could help me make it less miserable. He wrote the main keyboard riff almost immediately and it came together really quickly after that; we re-structured and re-arranged it and added the end part, which I think of lyrically as a kind of conversation between two different versions of myself.” -Holly Mullineaux
